Boarding at Miami Beach Marina

300 Alton Road, Miami Beach. It sits at the bottom end of South Beach where Alton Road runs out at the water, next to Monty's. From Ocean Drive or Lincoln Road it is a five-minute drive or a ten-dollar rideshare.

Parking is paid, on site, and fills up on weekends — if you are a group of ten, two cars is easier than five. Your confirmation gives you the exact slip number, and the crew will be on deck waiting. Arrive fifteen minutes before your start time so the charter clock does not start while you are still finding the dock.

Boarding here is the reason South Beach is the easiest departure point in Miami: you are already where everybody wants to be. Breakfast on Lincoln Road, four hours on the water, dinner on Ocean Drive, without crossing a causeway.

Where You Go From South Beach

Star Island — 10 minutes

Star Island at sunset — ten minutes out of Miami Beach Marina, with Downtown behind.

Straight out of the marina and into Government Cut, then left. The mansions run along both sides and the captain will tell you who owns what. This is where the group photos happen.

Nixon Sandbar — 20 to 30 minutes

The floating mat at the sandbar — where most South Beach charters spend an hour.

Shallow, warm, waist-deep water where the yacht anchors and the floating mat comes out. Most four-hour charters spend an hour or more here. On a Sunday you will be among a hundred other boats, which is either the appeal or the reason to go on a Tuesday.

Fisher Island and the Cut

Running past Fisher Island, two minutes out of Miami Beach Marina.

Two minutes from the marina, past the cruise terminals and the pilot boats. Worth doing on the way back in when the light is low.

The open Atlantic

Through Government Cut and out. Flat mornings are best; by mid-afternoon it gets lively, which some groups love and others regret. Ask the captain on the day.

South Beach Yacht Rental FAQ

Where do South Beach yacht charters depart from?

Miami Beach Marina at 300 Alton Road, right at the southern tip of South Beach. It is a five-minute drive from Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road, there is paid parking on site, and your confirmation includes the exact slip number.

How much does a yacht rental in South Beach cost?

From $1,800 for four hours on a 48-foot yacht up to $27,000 for a full day on the 120' Custom Line. Most South Beach groups book between $2,600 and $5,300, which covers the 62 to 80 foot range. Every price is published on the yacht's own page.

How long does it take to reach the sandbar from South Beach?

Around 20 to 30 minutes to Nixon Sandbar, depending on your yacht and the water. Star Island and Fisher Island are closer still, roughly 10 minutes out of the marina, so a four-hour charter comfortably covers both.

How many guests can come on board?

Thirteen is the legal maximum for this class of charter, on every yacht regardless of size. Larger groups can be split across two yachts tied together at the sandbar.

Is a captain included?

Yes, on every charter. Most South Beach yachts also include a steward, and the largest include two or three crew. You never need a boating licence.

What is the best time of day to leave from South Beach?

Late morning gives you calm water for the sandbar and the whole afternoon. Sunset departures are the most requested — you cruise back past the South Beach skyline as it lights up, and they book out first on weekends.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes. Most groups bring their own, and we can arrange catering, a bar package or a private chef instead. Tell your agent when you book.

Do I need to tip the crew?

Gratuity is not included and runs 15 to 20 percent of the charter price, paid at the end of the day. It goes directly to the captain and crew.
